Hopes and Dreams

from Great Expectations by Great Expectations

/

lyrics

You hold the key to my chest, tied to a string hanging from your neck. Locked are the worries I've kept, held deep inside – never have they left. Soon, my body will explode with everything that it holds. My blood will stain the grounds of all the places I've called home.

Breathe in, breathe out; try to slow your heart rate down, beating to keep up with your fears. (They haven't changed in years.) Soon, my body will explode, leaving behind a ghost of the person I used to know with hopes and dreams that were once my own.
